sheila b, grew up on a horse farm in middle tennesee -
during college she got off the farm and she spent a summer
volunteering at ghost ranch, where georgia o'keefe lived in
new mexico.

When she wasn’t cleaning toilets that summer and causing
certain mayhem, she took a class in traditional religious icon
painting from a nun. Several years later she reconciled this
catholic icon painting with the icons relative to her own
culture: music, Jesus, old pick up trucks, mules and most
things southern.

Influenced and addicted to old posters, typefaces, music, she
places all this into her paintings with her unique twist on song
titles and the lives of those she chooses to paint. She refers to
her art as "lo-fi illustration” - she's a story teller. walking with
a bit of a swagger - she aint bashful - she’s from nashville.
